BOWENFELS CHILDCARE

The Bowenfels design is centred around the lush environment of the site. We created an adventurous spatial solution that maximises all the benefits provided by the beautiful nature.

This project was developed with the understanding that the environment is considered the “Third Teacher”. Our goal was to create unrestricted exploration for the kids, keeping in line with the program’s needs. Inviting the wonders of the outdoors within the walls of this development drove our use of primary shapes and platonic forms. Every part of the building offers opportunities for imagination and education.

In collaboration with the landscape architect, we integrated a series of naturally non-uniform and adventurous spaces amongst the different outdoor play areas. The use of natural light and ventilation throughout the high and prominent rooves is one of the most important characteristics in the design of this building. We prioritised the use of bright colours to stimulate the kid’s senses and create an exciting learning environment. 

To take the outdoor play area to the next level, we recreated zoo animals around the open areas to create an environment that brings a sense of wonder into their daily play.
